What Happens If a Result Is Abnormal?

If a screening test result is abnormal, you will undergo more frequent testing than routine screening to find out if liver cancer is present. This may involve repeating tests or adding a wider range of tests over a shorter period of time for further evaluation. This is called enhanced follow-up.

The results of enhanced follow-up should be interpreted by a health care provider who is familiar with the diagnosis of early liver cancer.
